Media Naranja Table Lamp
One of my favourite creations to date, Media Naranja is a tall, stylised table lamp with a bright orange dome that catches the attention when it is not switched on and casts a mesmerising light and coloured shadow when it is on.
Made with a plastic shade from the 60s (half a sphere in a deep orange tone), a small orange glass bottle -turned upside down-, a salvaged vintage lamp foot and various recycled metallic parts of different origins.
It also has two new chrome bulb sockets, a long transparent cord and black switch and plug to complete de design.
Measures: 33cm diameter, 60cm high.
THE MAKING PROCESS
Normally I don't show a picture of the mess created during the designing of a lamp (I am too concentrated to stop and use the camera)... well, here you are: this was taken at the end, with the final piece more or less mounted in the foreground and quite a few of the various other parts, finally discarded, all around it.
Below are the final parts, ready for the assembling
(The cleaning and polishing in the next picture had already been done..
..as well as the drilling of the small bottle that would go on top of the base). On the right, gluing the different pieces on that area together to prevent movement
Sanding the drilled holes on the matallic bits to smooth the edges, and mounting the cup on top
Wiring the bulb sockets, making the connections inside the cup
Wiring the switch and plug... and testing: it works! *phew*
