Shabby Chic Frame

The customer had this huge frame that she intended to use for a mirror to hang in her living room, but despite the size and nice carvings the piece was in serious 'revamping need', as at some point it had been sprayed with a cheap can of gold colour (the one that looks more like faded-mousy-brown.. eek)

So, to her request, I painted it in an off-white tone, then distressed the surface to highlight the crevices and let some of the 'gold' underneath show. It is also varnished and polished to get a smooth, satin finish. From plain to Parisian shabby-chic: much better!

Measures: 110 x 80cm

The frame, in its sad, original state:
Painting with several coats of a self made off-white tone
Distressing, varnishing and finally polishing the surface
