Restored Foldable Wooden Chair
A cute foldable chair in deep green from the beginning of the 20th Century, restored and thoroughly varnished to protect its chipped surfaces and enhance the time patina.
I have treated the original beech wood parts, reinforced the structure and added a piece to top the back rest, as there was a missing slat. This piece, also in beech wood, comes from an old wardrobe and used to hold the hanger bar - the measures, material and simple lines were a perfect fit!
Measures: seat 39 x 32cm, 40cm high; 72cm back height
The chair, prior its restoration:
Treating the damaged wood parts, then wrapping the chair to help the curing process
Sanding the slat that had been painted white at some point (what for?), and replacing the old nails that had gotten loose with the time.
Adapting the wardrobe part to serve as back rest, and polishing the whole chair once the varnish was dry.
