Shabby-chic Floor Mirror with Carved Wooden Moulding

An elegant floor standing mirror with a shabby-chic finish in an off-white tone. It used to be the door of a wardrobe: the keyhole and the lock are still there, but as it had no hinges (it was fastened with the pivot system that was so common in the first decades of the 20th Century), it looks nicer as a floor mirror now.

The walnut frame gets embellished with the addition of salvaged old wooden moulding on the top part, stained with a warm oak tone to create an interesting contrast with the rest.

I have also added a couple of tiny legs in the bottom part and two small hooks at the back, as it is highly recommended to secure it to the wall once it's placed in its final position.

Above: the mirror in its original state.
Below: painting the frame (then it would come the distressing part, not shown) and installing the mirror pane.
The carved moulding had to be prepared by cutting the original, old rusty nails, treating the wood, sanding and staining it with an oak tone. Once fastened to the top of the mirror frame it got varnished and polished with all the rest.
