Another empty-your-pockets tray out of a maple wood carved bowl! They all follow the same idea, but each one is unique.
The body of this butterfly is a brass handle taken from a vintage cabinet, with nice Art Nouveau curved lines. It can be used now to lift the tray, as seen with candy dishes... the antenna are made out of an engraved copper bangle, cut and twisted on both ends.
I have coloured the bowl with two different coats of paint: a lime green and a turquoise green on top. Like this, when I have distressed the surface, the lighter tone shows here and there, giving an even fresher look and a nice contrast with the wood. The clear varnish protects it all and provides a soft, satin finish.
This cute, useful shabby-chic tray measures 26 x 15cm.
