Following the empty-your-pockets-trays-in-the-shape-of-a-butterfly line! This one certanly stands out, as I have used an impressive, heavily decorated antique brass escutcheon from my collection to form the shape of the bug. The antenna are made out of a brass bangle, cut and twisted on both ends.
To decorate the maple wood base I mixed some enamel paint to get a deep,
bright aqua-green colour that enhances the bronze shades of the escutcheon.
Also, as usual, I
have distressed the surface and protected it with a clear satin
varnish.
The Baroque Butterfly Tray measures 26 x18cm, and it's perfect for resting coins, the keys, jewels... or it could also be used as a candy dish!
