50s Armchair, Restored and Reupholstered

Here is the 'resurrection' of a vintage armachair from the late 50s with nice Escadinavian lines.

I restored the structure in solid beech, stripping it off the old varnish and staining it with a warm teak hue, plus rehupholstered the seat and back rest, using a textured cotton fabric in olive green.

Check the pictures below and the 'making of' section for further details.

Measures: seat 46 x 49cm, 45cm high. Height of the back rest 79cm

Here on the right, the armchair in its gloomy original state.

Below, some pictures taken during the restoration process: first, taking the old upholstery off, staple by staple, nail by nail (including the clumsy 'repair' done to the seat at some point: someone stuffed a cushion in between the original hay and the burlap straps...)
Then, stripping off the old varnish and staining the beech structure,
Then sealing and polishing it. Attaching new webbing.
Adding the new foam, that got shaped and rounded on the edges. I then fastened some batting and the fabric on top of it (not shown), finishing the seat with the dust cover on the bottom.
The back rest was fine, so I just removed the old staples and made a cover with the same fabric used on the seat (thanks a ton for the help, Lidia!), then attached it on top of the original one.
