1Unik's New Shop -A General View

It's been over two months of intensive work -thus of 'silence' over here-, but now that the shop is finally open again I found some time to select and edit a big bunch of pictures to share with you all patient followers.
Even though the new place is not finished yet, there is so much of it already that I have splitted the works by sections in several posts, full of picture galleries. -Enjoy!

THE SHOP
(More on the shop signs and painting the shutters later, when the task is fully finished)

The General Refurbishing of the Shop Area:
The place, built at the begining of the 20th Century, had great bones, but it needed a deep polishing and general updating to bring out its full potential... after dismantling some ugly shelves and a couple of massive interior built-in showcases, upgrading the electrics and some plumbing, it was time to get rid of the sad sad blue colour that covered all the walls... and ceiling!
Then, laying down the laminated flooring on top of those mean, slippery tiles -not easy, as there is not a single piece of wall that's straight here!
Cutting and painting the skirting boards plus the wooden panelling for the main wall. I used a self-made colour mix of water based enamel paint, it doesn't show well in the pictures but it is a warm shade of gray that goes well with the white of the walls and the light oak of the flooring.
The wooden panelling, installed. Sanding the door next to the staircase to prepare it for several coats of white paint -I also changed the horrid 80s handle and the keyhole plate for antique bronze ones that I had in my stash (see below). Much better!
I replaced the massive handles of the entrance door for a couple of cute vintage ones from the 50s, painted black to make them stand out against the white aluminium of the door frame.
The final touches to the room included hanging the wooden racks to display 1Unik's pendant lamps (I still have to set up some wiring so I can connect a few of them). And, almost done: unpacking and arranging the shop: yay!
