Bespoke Bathroom Mirror

Another nice commission to add to the book: this time the customer fell in love with one of the antique mirrors from my stock and wanted it for their bathroom.

I have mounted it on a solid hardwood pineboard and added a narrow shelf. I cut the corners on both surfacesto match the edges of the mirror and enhance the swanky beveled details.

The dark, 'roasty' stain and polished finish add to the classy look of the piece and protect it from the bathroom environment.

Measures: 41cm wide, 56cm high. The shelf is 10cm deep.

MAKING OF: Here on the right, the main parts used to build the wall mounted mirror.

Below: Marking where the main pine board will be cut (the same went for the shelf, not shown). Smoothing the surface.
Rounding the edges by hand, both on the main surface and the shelf.
Staining the pine boards with several layers of a nice 'roasty' tone, made mixing various water based varnishes. Then I polished both surfaces.
Drilling the holes for the screws that will support the shelf from the back. Once stained, fastening the hangers to the back.
One of the final steps: attaching the antique mirror to the board, then it was just a matter of securing the shelf.
