Recently, I got this pendant lamp, a true design from the 60s with a gorgeous white and mustard yellow melamine shade, but a chrome top part that needed replacemet -along with the recent cheap plastic bulb socket and cord.
So, basically, I re-mounted the shade into a new pendant lamp: I've used a vintage dome, also chrome, a white bakelite bulb socket, two meters of white cotton cord and a chrome canopie with a sturdy bracket to support the heavy weight of the lamp.
The result is a 'proper' pendant lamp with a complete vintage feel.
It looks beautiful when it's off and gives a warm light with a golden glow when it's switched on!.
Measures: shade 34cm diameter, 24cm high. Cord 2 meters long, suitable to high ceilings and/or for the lamp to be hung away from the ceiling connections.

THE MAKING OF: Here on the right, the lamp prior its transformation. The chrome part on top was too damaged and the wire plus bulb socket was a cheap plastic replacement of the original ones, so they all went.
Below: polishing the vintage chrome dome that would go on top, and mounting the lamp. Then, wiring and testing: passed!
