Poppy is a stricking floor lamp with a distinctive vintage flavour. Made with a huge semi-spherical plastic shade from the 60s, in bright red, that is linked to the chrome tube and base taken from a vintage lamp with a flexible gooseneck.
This allows the shade to be adjusted to virtually any position: downwards to get direct light (perfect for reading), and sideways or upwards to create a warm, glamourous atmosphere.
The top of the metallic bulb socket is covered with a flange for a bath tube tap, also in chrome, that serves as a canopy. The black cord, foot switch and plug complete the design.
Measures: 160cm high (in the photo position, much higher when straightened up), shade 33cm widest part diameter, 24cm high.
THE MAKING OF: Here below, the parts used to make the lamp. On the right, drilling a bigger hole in the vintage base to fit the new cord (old ones were so thin!)
Polishing all the chromed parts, and assembling it all (here, the rubber band that would help holding the cover of the bulb socket). Wiring and testing not shown, but I'm sure you get the idea.
