Green Bean Desk Lamp

The Green Bean desk lamp is a reprise on the series of metallic lamps made with an espresso machine base, a flexible gooseneck and an upcycled shade (see the Espressa and the Orange Blossom Espressa).

This time the shade is made out of an antique metallic jelly molud with a cute oval shape that I spray painted in white for the inside part, and in pale green for the outside.
A matching cover for the base and the flexible gooseneck are taken from vintage lamps.

I have also added a new toggle switch, porcelain bulb socket and mustard cotton cord to complete the colourful design: this is a practical lamp that will cheer up any desk or bedside table!

Measures: 40cm high at average position, shade 23cm long, base 13cm diameter, 11cm high.

THE MAKING OF:
Right hand side: the main parts used to make the lamp -note that I was still trying to decide which cord to use... cotton in mustard was chosen afterwards.

Below: Spray painting the shade and base cover
Distressing the painted parts, then drilling a hole in the future shade to attach the gooseneck
Setting up the toggle switch and mounting the bulb socket
The weight in the base is a big cobble stone, fastened to the bottom so it won't move -Wiring the lamp
Making the connections in the plug, and testing the lamp before the final assemblage.
