14 Mirrors

Despite they're a nightmare to photograph (just try!), mirrors are great elements of decoration. Placed on a wall or sitting on a vanity, they make spaces look brighter and larger. With just a big one or a composition made out of several ones you get an instant, affordable centerpiece to any room... I never get tired of mirrors, and make them in all shapes, colours and sizes -out of 'traditional' and less common materials: so you get an idea, here is a gallery of the last fourteen!

Distressed off-white wooden frame with bronze appliqués taken from an old dresser. 25 x 25cm.

Upcycled pinewood small window frame and trimming, in natural finish with satin clear varnish. 33cm wide, 30cm long

Bamboo frame, painted with mustard yellow and olive green coats and distressed. 40 cm wide, 50cm long.

Vintage chrome frame with embossing. 40 x 40cm

Upcycled wooden stretcher frame (the ones used to attach a canvas onto), painted, distressed and aged finish. The beech trim was salvaged from an old window and it's sanded plus varnished. 41cm wide, 33cm long.

Antique wooden frame (very rustic as it used to have a mirror on top, so it was not meant to be visible at the time), restored and varnished. 26cm wide, 35cm long.

Upcycled octogonal piece of a vintage beech room divider, painted and distressed. 21 x 21cm.

Vintage chrome frame, restored and thoroughly polished. 36cm wide, 49cm long.

Old pinewood frame, tinted and with a white wax finish, plus strips of handmade paper on the brims. 25cm wide, 42cm long.

Big rustic wooden frame, tinted and polished to get a lavish finish. 60 x 60cm.

Antique wooden frame, originally painted white with golden accents, restored and varnished but letting the 'marks of time' show -in short: authentic shabby-chic! 20cm wide, 18cm long.

Long octogonal piece of a vintage beech room divider, painted, aged and distressed. 21cm wide, 42cm long.

This one is made out of a salvaged, very old door frame, keeping the nicely scratched surface as it was, then clear varnished. 20cm wide, 19cm long.

..And the last one of the series: a frame made out of vintage wooden meter rulers, mounted on strips of wood painted black for a nice contrast. Below, a picture taken during the making process. 17cm wide, 19cm long.
