Revamped ethnic carved cabinet

Yet another case of 'revamping' in 1Unik! This cute wooden cabinet of Asian origin and ethnic style, quite narrow and not too wide (26x 36cm), but tall (97cm) is the perfect piece for extra storage in a bathroom or corridor.

It was in a general good condition (with the exception of the top surface and some other minor 'wounds'), but the dark green paint that covered it completely didn't let the carvings that cover both sides and doors show, and that meant taking away the whole personality of the piece: it needed a boost!

So I replaced the missing piece of wood that helps keep the doors closed, restored the top surface and the interior and, as main action, painted the cabinet in a creamy off-white tone to 'refresh' the look and to create a nice contrast with the dark green underneath.
Then, I spent quite a few hours carefully scraping and scratching and peeling certain areas, to both enhance the carvings and the rustic feel of the piece. It also has a smooth varnished-and-polished finish. Much better!

Here, some pictures of the completed cabinet:
Here, some shots taken during the process: painting in a self-made off-white tone on top of the dark surface, then sanding and more sanding to reveal the carvings...
...more scraping, and painting the inside in black
And, finally, varnishing (and polishing -not shown) the whole surface
