Flowery Cabinet

This was a walnut cabinet, very well built, with good proportions and generous measures (58x 38cm, 64cm high).. that had been through a hard life and presented a terribly scratched surface, had the doors dented and no pulls left: 1Unik to the rescue!

I took away the shiny old varnish, showing the lovely grain and giving it a soft touch by polishing it, I levelled the scratches and painted the top surface, adding a wood moulding (from my collection of salvagings) in the same tone as the cabinet.

I also covered the veneered surfaces with a fresh lime green handmade paper that has a dainty flowery embossed pattern, and painted the legs plus the inside in a turquoise tone that combines with it and the dark green wooden knobs. Ta-daa! The tattered cabinet has turned to new, ready to refresh any corner in the house.

The cabinet, before its transformation, and a detail of the severely scratched surface, the handmade paper and other parts ready to be used
The 'revamping process' started with sanding and treating the wood that wouldn't be covered, plus polishing it; all this after taking off the drawer, doors and clasps;
filling up the holes on the surface and the doors,
Priming the top, then painting it off white -along with the other surfaces that were going to be covered with paper (because it is a rather traslucent one and its lime colour would have seemed 'faded' if stuck directly on the dark wood); painting the legs turquoise
The bottom of the drawer goes turquoise too.. then, finally, covering the selected surfaces with paper
