Whimsical Colander Lamp

Here is a fun commission that I finished not long ago: The transformation of an old colander into a pendant lamp with a whimsical trimming made out of clear, burgundy and green crystal pendalogues and beads!

The cotton cord in olive green matches the colour pattern -and the decoration of the customer's dining room, where the lamp will be hanging.

Check the pictures below and the detailed 'making of' for further details.

Measures: 30cm diameter, 15cm high.

MAKING OF, step by step: The main parts used to make the lamp; drilling the central hole for the bulb socket
Drilling all the holes to hang the crystals, then sanding the rough edges one by one
Cleaning and polishing the old strainerr; preparing it for spray painting
The inside gets painted in a soft off-white tone. Next step: mounting the crystal beads for the trimming
Making the crystal 'tassel' was a time consuming but pleasant task. Finally, wiring the lamp!

UPDATE: The kind customer sent us some gorgeous pictures of her lamp -looking good in its new home! Thank you very much, Jutta, it's been a pleasure :)
