A custom revamping project with a bold result!
The customer was looking for a bedside table, and he liked this vintage one's size and shape, but not the finish (I agree).
He asked me to paint it to match his bedroom, and I suggested this combination (one of the walls is red, other furniture black and modern), plus a couple of 70s chrome handles to choose from:
The painted parts have a soft, satin finish that makes a good contrast with the shiny handles, and I have slightly distressed the edges of the top surface and front of the drawers to hightlight their shape and retrieve a little bit of the table's age... it was looking too new!
Measures: 49cm wide, 34cm deep, 44cm high
MAKING OF: Here on the right, the table prior its transformation, and the two sets of vintage handles for the customer to choose from.
Below: Sanding the legs and the body of the night stand.
Removing the old handles, sanding the drawer fronts
Treating the damaged parts (damn the wood worms!), and once the curing period was up, using wood putty to fill the holes.
Small dowels to fill in the holes left by the old handles. First coat of black paint in the drawer fronts.
Painting the bedside table... all over! Top surface, body (inside and out), legs and drawers (inside and out too)
