Restructured and Revamped Cabinet

These customers wanted to make the most out of their cabinet. It was a nice one, quite big and in very good condition, but too plain looking and with a fixed board on the front (it was the middle shelf that could be lifted as a lid) that made it lose most of its storage capacities.

So they needed a restructuration and revamping: take off the built-in chest and make the lid a fixed shelf, plus add a splash of burgundy/deep red colour to the surfaces, keeping the clean, modern general look of the piece. Mission accomplished!
(The pictures are quite bad, quickly taken with my pocket camera just before they picked the cabinet up, but I hope you can get an idea of the final result)

Here, some shots taken during the making process: Dismantling the cabinet, drilling the holes in the former lid to fix it to the side boards with wooden pegs and make it a fixed shelf,
Covering the holes that fastened the chest cover to the side boards before, mixing several colours to make the desired deep, brownish red
This commission was made during the refurbishing of my showroom area -here, the painted boards of the cabinet, drying in that empty space (turned out to be quite practical, 'cause they took a lot of room!)
Once the four layers of paint dried, I carefully scrapped off the brim to make a perfect straight line. And finally, assembling the unit back.
