Suitcase Bar Table

This is the quirky makeover of a 70s suitcase -well, more of an instrument case, really- and its transformation into a side table that opens up to reveal a bar cabinet, thanks to the addition of four vintage tinted legs and a mirror from the 50s

The Suitcase Bar Table measures 43 x 55cm, 60cm high when closed, 93cm high when it's open.
Some detail views: the leather trimming and the toasted-brown faux leather surface, one of the chromed clasps (the key got missing a long time ago, but it's not locked so it opens up fine), handle, the adapted late 50s mirror, tinted vintage legs, Indian handmade paper with clear varnish...
The suitcase, before its transformation: originally, it must have served to keep an instrument -and later on the owners were still music lovers that cover every inch of the outside surface with stickers of bands, record shops, venues and so on.
...an incredible nightmare, to take them off and clean all that stickiness! The rest of the 'making of' process involved ripping off the old velvet upholstery (and taking out hundreds of tiny nails, old foam and cardboard that were layed underneath); sanding the 50s legs, tint them and fastening them to the bottom of the suitcase (not shown: I cut a thick board to measure and placed it in the bottom inside part, to increase the strengh and secure the legs); cutting and setting the panelling paper, then varnish it; getting the mirror ready and securing it to the inside part of the lid; then finishing off the details, like the vintage covers for the nuts that fasten the handle.
