Lisa Table Lamp

Lisa is a dainty, delicate table lamp made out of one of the first models of electric iron machines manufactured in Spain (TER label) at the beginning of the 20th Century, that sports a lovely rigged wooden handle with an extension for the thumb. the neck has a straight part and a flexible one, and the shade is a vintage frosted glass with an intricate etched design that casts beautiful shadows when the light is on. Perfect for a bedside table!
47cm high, braided cotton cord 140cm long
A bunch of pictures, showing Lisa in detail: the old iron used as the base with three porcelain insulators to serve as little 'legs'; the different parts of the pole, straight and flexible, and the various pieces used for the junction (washers, brass and chrome tubes, copper nut and rubber rings); the vintage frosted glass shade with its lovely etched design (originally meant to stand on a base instead of hanging upside-down!), and the parts that hold it to the neck; the black braided cotton cord, switch and plug; and how the lower part of the pole is secured to the iron-base with an eye screw and a vintage pipe holder

The old electric iron, just brought home from the Antiques shop: I tried to keep the original cord -at least those cute plugs, just 'for show'- but it wouldn't fit in the elegant final design...
And some views of the making process: thorough cleaning and polishing of the iron, sanding the hole drilled in the pole, mounting the complex fitting of the glass shade into the flexible neck & the wiring
