Paisley Mirror

Here we are, presenting the Paisley Mirror -or how to transfor a (hideous) Seventies beast into a stricking, eye-catching and modern piece!

The original design was quite nice, with the thick, massive mirror being supported by four holders and kind of 'floating' above the sturdy round surface... it deserved something much better than the dark brown plastic upholstery it had all around it!
So I replaced it by a gorgeous handmade paper from India, very thick and with the touch and density of tissue, with a white paisley pattern on black background. I kept the 70s design of the four holders, but took away the 'golden' plastic covers and stressed the "seams" with four pieces of black satin ribbon.
Here are some pictures in detail and a front view:
The mirror, previous the transformation: A plastic galore 100% 70s design... it would have been nice if it was real leather, I reckon. Taking that old upholstering off was a kind of a nightmare, but also a pleasure!
The fourth picture shows the process of gluing the handmade paper to set the new frame.
The total diameter of the Paisley Mirror is 70cm (55cm the actual mirror).
