Aqua-green Butterfly: a Double Candy Dish

I recently found some little maple wood carved trays, two in the form of butterflies and two looking like a fish. You can read the details of the story and see one of the results here (here you'll find the other one).

After those two, I got carried away and turned the couple of fish shaped bowls into a third butterfly, by sanding the 'tails' flat and joining them with an adhesive paste that solidifies like a rock.

I sanded the joined little bowls, and mixed several water-based enamel paints to get a sultry aqua-green colour, then I added a distressed finish and protected it all with clear satin varnish.

The 'body' of the butterfly is an antique cast-brass key hole cover from an old cabinet, to which I have taken the drop knob off, and the antenna is a vintage bangle, cut and twisted to get the desired curved shape.
Voilà! A cute, very original country-chic double candy dish, that also serves as an empty-your-pockets tray. It measures 27x16 cm.
