I have just finished this industrial bookshelf, and it was a pleasure to make!
The structure is varnished raw steel angles and the shelves are made with thick reclaimed pinewood pallet boards; cleaned, rounded, sanded and protected with several layers of clear varnish, but that still retain their lovely timeworn patina.
I have also added four small fixed casters, so the shelving unit can be moved but stays kind of locked as well. Check the pictures below for further details.
Measures: 71 x 28cm, 170cm high.
Some pictures taken during the MAKING process: the main parts used to build the bookshelf; de-nailing the pallet boards.
Sanding and cutting the pallet wood to measure,
Rounding the edges and fastening the shelves to the structure
Sealing the whole piece with several coats of clear varnish and, finally, adding the fixed casters.
