'Less is more' could be the perfect motto for this commission. When the base materials are as good as this antique exotic wood coat hanger, you do not need to add much to enhance its beauty!
So in this case the project was pure restoration, and simplicity its best quality: once sanded and treated, the coats of clear varnish and the polishing make the lovely wood grain and old patina stand out and take all the credit they deserve.
Just by hanging this lovely piece on the wall the customer had an instant jewelry holder: its 'neck' and 'shoulders', plus the eight brass hooks on the base provide enough support for a large number of necklaces, bangles, earrings and other items to be displayed in her shabby-chic bedroom! Dainty.
Here is the hanger, prior its restoration. First step: sanding to remove the cracked, stained old varnish; then treating the damaged wood and filling the holes...
...To finish with several coats of satin clear varnish, a good polishing and screwing the brass hooks on the base
