Hybrid Cabinet

This was made a couple of weeks ago, but only now I found some time to edit the tons of pics and write this post.. being active-creative is great, but nowadays time for other things gets tighter and tighter, so in order to be able to keep sharing stuff with you all, I will have to shorten the blah blah, in favour of even more pictures -good for you! and extremely difficult for SuperTalkative me, hahaha.

So here we go, a very large production, both in size and hours of design and making: over 40h in total!
Like Frankie Cabinet, but much more elaborated, this piece of furniture is a mix of several repurposed elements: three windows (the one for the back, quite old, the two for the sides, mid-century), two drawers from an old wardrobe, pieces of  chairs from the beginning of the 20th century, pieces of gorgeously aged wood, a recycled mirror... I even used four old screws because of their lovely chipped paint! new pieces are the rest of screws, the metallic handles and wooden side panels.

I painted and 'distressed' some pieces, but absolutely all parts have been thoroughly cleaned, sanded, treated and finally varnished with a water-based gloss-finish that not only protects the surfaces but also enhances the beautiful tones that old wood has.

The Hybrid Display Cabinet is 162cm high, 42cm deep, 45cm wide and the lower part with chests is 45cm high.
The mirror is a full length one that covers the whole of the back part, so this functional piece of furniture can be used in an entrance or a bedroom, and its eclectic yet sober looks will fit in almost all decoration styles.

Check the 'Making Of' post for additional pictures and descriptions!
