Roger Cremat

Bon dia! Please welcome Roger Cremat, who comes all the way from Catalunya to join the ever growing Trash Family!

He is made out of an old iron broiler for caramelizing the top of the delicious crema cremada (the Catalan crème brûlée).
Old and unusual item, because the pole is straight instead of bent in an 'L' shape like any other iron burner you see...

So this one stands up -and with Roger shaped up from the wooden handle on top, it makes a lovely dainty sculpture, 37.5cm high.

The head is a vintage wooden door knob, partially painted and with a tagua bead on top to form the typical Catalan berret (la barretina). Eyes and nose are made out of tiny screws, salvaged from electronic devices -not easy to handle, I needed pliers to be able pick them up!
The waistcoat was the metallic part that kept the hairs of a brush together, reshaped so it fits Roger's body and sanded till all edges are smooth.
The arms are made out of headless screws, tiny hooks, rubber washers and those matallic end parts for wire connections (I removed the plastic ring).
His shirt is painted with water based enamel paint, then distressed, and I tinted the rest of the handle to make it look darker -also with a water based product: let's take as much care of our little Planet as we can...
Then, to finish with the typical Catalan outfit, Roger sports a waist band made out of a piece of spring from an old clock, fastened with a tiny iron nail.
All pieces are really small here, it was not easy at all to put them all together! But Mr. Cremat seems pleased enough with the result, standing up proud above the rest of the Trash Family members.
