I got a nice vintage mirror mounted on the back of a wardrobe door. It had etched trimming, its size was generous and the natural distressed surface added charm to it.
But the simple, badly painted framing needed to be spruced out: I cut and mounted a couple of beautiful crown moulding pieces, put together to make them look even more interesting, and for the new frame to be wider.
I also painted it in an off-white tone, distressed and aged it with dark, wiped stain and then varnished and polished it for protection and a soft, satin finish. I added two little legs as well to lift it slightly from the floor, and two eye hooks in the back to secure it to the wall.
There: a stricking floor mirror with a French style!.
Measures: 164cm high, 54cm wide.

Here on the right is the mirror before the intervention.
